Why now

Quantum-safe drones are moving from demo to programme

Decisions being made now will secure systems for decades. Buyers need a neutral place to learn what works.

  • March 2026

    Post-quantum encryption has flown

STV Group and Post-Quantum reported a trial protecting drone video and flight data at a Czech test range.

  • March 2026

    Manufacturers are planning for it

SEALSQ and Parrot agreed a roadmap to bring post-quantum cryptography to next-generation professional drones.

  • February 2026

    Policy is moving

The European Commission presented its Action Plan on Drone and Counter Drone Security.

What you will be able to do

From awareness to informed decisions

  • 01

    Map the attack surface

Trace a drone's command, telemetry, payload, navigation, ground and cloud links, and where each can be attacked.

  • 02

    Explain the quantum risk

Judge which data and trust anchors will outlive the cryptography protecting them today.

  • 03

    Weigh PQC on the platform

See how NIST standards fit constrained radio links, and the trade-offs in size, latency and power.

  • 04

    Separate QKD fact from hype

Tell what has been demonstrated from what is still research, and when hybrids make sense.

  • 05

    Secure the lifecycle

Know the controls that matter over decades of service, from secure boot to crypto-agility.

  • 06

    Ask the right questions

Set out what to require from suppliers and build a readiness roadmap.

The programme

Eight lectures, four weeks, one live capstone

  1. Week 1

    The problem

    • How a drone talks, and how it is attacked
    • Why quantum changes the timeline
  2. Week 2

    PQC on the platform

    • Securing the command link
    • Identity, updates and keys across the lifecycle
  3. Week 3

    Quantum comms in the air

    • QKD from lab to sky
    • PQC, QKD or both? Hybrid architectures
  4. Week 4

    From prototype to procurement

    • Autonomy, swarms and supply chain
    • Buying it right: requirements, standards and roadmap

Questions

Before you join

Who can attend?

The series is for QSECDEF members. Non-members who want to join the sessions become members.

When does it run?

Dates are being agreed with confirmed speakers. Sessions run live online in the QSECDEF Tuesday slot.

Do I need a technical background?

No. There is no coding or physics prerequisite.

What if I miss a session?

Every lecture is recorded for the member library.

Do I get a certificate?

Members who complete the series can earn a QSECDEF certificate of completion.

Do speakers need to be members?

No. We look for first-hand experience, a clear point of view and the ability to teach. Each session has one lead speaker.
