About qb.tc

qBTC is a Layer-1 blockchain that preserves Bitcoin's design while upgrading its cryptography to withstand the first large-scale quantum computer. It keeps the same SHA-256 proof-of-work consensus and difficulty adjustment as Bitcoin, so existing miners can direct hashpower to it with no extra setup, and it works with Bitcoin Core developer tooling, including bitcoin-cli.

Every transaction is signed with ML-DSA-87, the Module-Lattice Digital Signature Algorithm at NIST Security Level 5, standardised in FIPS 204. Addresses are derived from a SHA3-256 hash of the public key, so the key is revealed only at spending time. A commitment mechanism lets Bitcoin holders bind a BTC address to a quantum-safe qBTC address ahead of migration.

The project is open source under the MIT licence and is built by Quantum Safe Technologies Corp. Features and specifications are subject to change during development and do not necessarily represent what is live on the qBTC Devnet.
